Workshop Overview

In this workshop, students will learn how to conduct a small archaeological dig. Students will be taught all the steps required to dig a trench. Firstly they will be given an introduction to how to dig a pit, the tools used, safety procedures, and protocols on removing soil and keeping levels clean and even. Students will be able to actually dig a trial test pit. Students will also be able to develop a foundation on which to later record and accession finds and stratigraphy, and why both of these processes are very important.
